The MD/CEO of the Uzma Group, Dato’ Kamarul Redzuan Muhamed has been named Malaysia’s Most Promising Entrepreneur at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award 2009 (APEA) Gala and Dinner event in Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur recently. At the same event Tan Sri Dato’ Seri (Dr.) Yeoh Tiong Lay, the Founder Chairman of the YTL Group of Companies received the Lifetime Achievement Award 2009 and Dato’ Mohd Nazmi Mohd Salleh; Executive Chairman of Nadicorp Holdings Sdn Bhd was named Entrepreneur of the Year 2009. The grand celebration was organized by Enterprise Asia, a non-governmental organization that promotes entrepreneurship development across the Asia Pacific region. Enterprise Asia was founded by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs and supported by a panel of prominent industry and government leaders who truly believe in the mission of championing entrepreneurship in Asia.
Dato’ Kamarul’s success attributed to his outstanding accomplishments in forming and managing Uzma as well as having the vision, the ability and drive to propel the company forward in the competitive Malaysian oil and gas industry.
He has passed the greatest hurdle in building his business by translating his original idea into a viable commercial venture and eventually built a sustainable and successful business. Considering that Uzma started as a water treatment company and later on moved into the manpower business, Dato’ Kamarul has very successfully thrust Uzma into the limelight by being one of the very few oil and gas companies which is at the top of its game.
As Dato’ himself said: “Know what you want, plan for the things that you want and work your plan. Along the way, be honest to yourself, your plan and people around you. It will work most of the time. If it doesn’t, do it again”
Even with all his achievements and awards, Dato’ Kamarul did stress one point though; all of his planning and hard work would come to naught if it were not for the perseverance of Uzma’s faithful and hardworking employees.
